SASFC players born 2013 to 2016 are allocated a team and play against other clubs in the 2025 Mainland Junior Football competition
In SASFC Junior Football our main goal is having fun!
Junior Footballers either play and train with their friends and schoolmates in one of our 'Red', 'White' and 'Black' teams, or in a 'Blue' team with other dedicated players in their age group. As well as Saturday morning games against other Christchurch clubs, players train together in their age groups during the week.
Blue teams typically play towards the top end of the competitions. Red, White & Black teams are carefully selected so that players from the same school, neighbourhood or friendship group are able to play together on the same team.
Note: for 2025, players born 2017 to 2020 take part in our First Kicks and Fun Football programme.
In Term 1 2025, we are offering an additional session at English Park on a Friday afternoon for players born 2016, to prepare them for entry into 2025 Junior Football Winter Season competition. Places are limited, and registrations are now open!
Club coaches run Skill Training Sessions throughout the season – and the summer!
During school terms 2 and 3, Monday afternoon Skill Training session is available to all our Red, White & Black team players as part of their Winter Season fees, along with an additional practice session or training game which may be arranged by volunteer game leaders. Sessions take place at St Albans Park with 9th & 10th Grade training 3:45 to 4:30 and 11th & 12th Grade 4:30 to 5:15
Blue teams attend an enhanced programme – training twice a week at St Albans Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4pm – during the season.
We also run Skill Training sessions in the summer! There's no such thing as an off-season at SASFC. Starting Term 4 2024, Summer Skill Training follows our established Winter Season skills and possession-based training programme, keeping players fit and focussed for the upcoming 2025 season.
Taking place on Wednesday afternoons at St Albans Park, starting early October and running through to mid-December, Term 4 sessions run 4-5pm (9th & 10th Grade) and 5-6pm (11th & 12 Grade)
Head to our Registrations page to get signed up for Term 4 Skills Training!
SASFC are proud to have a strong presence in the Junior Girls leagues
We welcome all enquiries from female players who would like to join an all-girls team. Check out our Girls Football page for further details
Girls are also welcome to play in 'Mixed' teams (comprising boys and girls) if they prefer, and are welcome to attend pre-season Open Training/Grading sessions – see dates and times above.
All Saturday games are managed and refereed by parent volunteers
For all Junior teams, a volunteer team coach and manager are required from amongst the players' parents, to coordinate players on match days and assist with communications etc. All training & support is provided, and a NZF Junior Level 1 Course and a monthly coaches forum are available.
Match day football needs parent help to keep it running smoothly
Please do step up and help out on match days with goal nets, corner flags, and any other help the coach or manager might need. Every little helps! If you are unable to attend match day games, there are lots of other ways to help out. Thank you for your support!
Don't delay – register TODAY!
Please register early to secure a place in a Junior Football Winter Season team. If you are registering after 31 March 2025, you should contact us at the email address below to chack available places.
Players wishing to play for a 'Blue' team must attend both Open Training/Grading Sessions, or contact us if you are unable to attend. Please note the separate registration for Open Training – it's free and helps us allocate you a team!
It's not essential that you attend both Open Training sessions for our 'Red', 'White' and 'Black' teams or wait to hear back from us in order to sign up: we have a team for everyone, so just go ahead and register!
Players provide their own playing kit. Returning players should use the kit they retained from last season. New members, or returning players looking to replace their kit, will find all they need on the SAS Club Shop at Football Unlimited. An official playing shirt, available from the merchandise store, is the only piece of kit you must obtain via the club. We stock a full range of quality playing gear, but players are welcome to source their shorts and socks elsewhere online, or from high street stores, as long as they closely conform to the colour/style displayed on the Merchandise page. No stripes or additional colours, please!
If you are registering a player late (after end-March 2025) or have any problems with registration, please email register@sasfootball.club
